Laser Cat and Godot Engine
It's time to make another game -- but this time, on my own.
A few years ago, I made a roguelite tower defense game called Plumpy Uprising, which is available on Steam. It felt like a great achievement and I'm so proud of it. Before making it, I had experience coding, but had never made 3D assets, or VFX, or any number of things that you need to know to make a 3D game. I learned a lot!
Now a few years later, I'm itching to make another game. Our game company disolved, so I'm going into this alone. A friend -- who was the man dev on our game -- is also making a game solo, and is using Godot. I'd heard about Godot and was interested as I heard it was more approachable.
So this past week, I downloaded it and made a quick game to try it out. That game is Laser Cat! It's simple, and only took me a few days to make, but it gave me a feel for the engine -- and I like it!
Next up, I need to start testing out making a 3D project in Godot, while I start planning out my next game -- a cozy 4X.
